Pithruvedhi

An organization founded for the laity with the aims of providing avenues for spiritual, cultural and social formation for the male heads of families. Pithruvedhi was started in the eparchy of Kanjirappally in the year 1999, when the universal Catholic Church observed the year of fatherhood of families. Mar Mathew Vattakuzhy, the second Bishop of the Eparchy of Kanjirappally approved the constitution of this organization.

The establishing aims of this organization are

• 1. Enable the gents to share the holiness of God the Father by leading a family life.
• 2. To conscientise them about their responsibly in the family, in various capacities such as a husband, father and head of the family.
• 3. To enable them to sanctify society by working for the safety and progress of the family which is a local family church

“Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect”(Mt 5:48) is the slogan of Pithruvedhi and St. Joseph is the heavenly patron of Pithruedhi with St.Isidore and St Chavara as the co patrons.

The Patron of this organization is the eparchial Bishop of Kanjirappally and the Vicar Generals are co patrons. The Director of the Family Apostolate of the Eparchy acts as the Director of Pithruvedhi which has its office in the annexe building of Pastoral Center, Kanjirappally.

Patris Corde

On March 18 th , the first anniversary of the first Bishop of the diocese late Mar Joseph Powathil, Bishop Mar Jose Pulickal formally inaugurated the Patris Corde, a meeting for fathers at the parish level in preparation for the Golden Jubilee of the diocese.
